Docs from the Canadian Tobacco Trials Added

The Canadian Tobacco Trials collection was added to the Legacy Tobacco Documents Library today. This collection consists of court records (transcripts, depositions, exhibits) from two major national Canadian trials - the 1989 Tobacco Products Control Act (TPCA) Trial and the 1997 Tobacco Act Trial.

Take a look at the 3757 documents currently in the collection or access further information about the collection.

In addition to the Canadian Tobacco Trials, we have added 320 New Lorillard documents.

Annual Tobacco Documents Workshop Coming Soon!

ANNUAL TOBACCO DOCUMENTS WORKSHOP:
PUTTING THE TOBACCO INDUSTRY’S WORDS TO WORK FOR YOU

The University of California, San Francisco Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education, an interdisciplinary research community, announces its one-day workshop on using tobacco industry documents for advocacy.

Time: 9:30 am to 4:00 pm


The workshop will cover: introduction to tobacco industry documents databases, including the multimedia database; hands-on practice searching and extracting key industry documents under the supervision of expert documents re-searchers; examples of ways in which the documents can be of use to promote tobacco-free communities; and opportunities to network and brainstorm with top documents researchers and other advocates.

Featuring:
Lunch time presentation by Stanton Glantz, Professor of Medicine and Director of the CTCRE Thursday Night Live free special pre-workshop, “How to Make Changes in Public Policy,” with attorney/policy expert Richard Barnes. More details upon registration.

Cost: $25 registration fee to reserve your place, refundable upon completion of the workshop.

Deadline is April 24th. Registration is on first come, first served basis and space is limited to 38 participants. A California cuisine lunch and resource materials will be provided. The locations are ADA accessible.

Applications for a 2010 Legacy Travel Scholarship to Increase Diversity may be requested.

17 New Papers Added to the Bibliography

17 new papers have been added to the Tobacco Documents Bibliography .

Topics include corporate social responsibility tactics, tobacco use and personal responsibility, consumer research on smokeless tobacco users, tobacco companies use of video imagery, and the promotion of tobacco through dance music.

This bibliography lists publications and papers based upon research and analysis of the tobacco industry documents. If you know of any resources that should be included in the bibliography, please contact LTDL.

Lorillard Privileged Document Records Added

We have added and updated a number of Lorillard privileged document records today - 272 of the document records are new to LTDL and the rest (25,555) had the metadata augmented.

To find these updated/new records, search within the Lorillard collection using today's date (yyyymmdd) in the "date added to UCSF" field -

New Tobacco Institute Documents Added Today

We've added 178,429 new Tobacco Institute documents to the Legacy Tobacco Documents Library, bringing the total to 60,197,138 pages in 11,449,188 documents!

These new additions are a part of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) special collection and can be found by searching on the date added to LTDL in a yyyymmdd format - ddu:20100107

New papers for the Tobacco Documents Bibliography

Read up! Nine new papers have been added to the UCSF Tobacco Documents Bibliography. Topics include industry clinical trial methods, tobacco harm reduction marketing, and Philip Morris's corporate image, among others. In addition, there are 5 significant papers now available freely through eScholarship.
